Mo Laudi: South African house, global dancefloors
Updated: Sep 16
For Mo Laudi, DJing is a way of bringing South African musical histories into the present. Based between Paris and Johannesburg, the DJ and producer works across Afro house, kwaito, amapiano and electronic club music, connecting his roots with dancefloors worldwide.
What shapes a Mo Laudi DJ set
Rhythm is the starting point. South African house and kwaito provide a foundation, while deep house, acid and techno open up different textures and tempos. A vocal, a bassline or a percussive phrase can become the connection between records made in different places and decades.
His approach is shaped by years of playing across London and Paris. The selection responds to the room: a warm opening, a shift in pressure, a familiar melody heard in a new setting. The aim is to create a shared experience through the relationship between the records and the people listening.
Hear that approach in practice on Mo Laudi Radio.

From club nights to cultural spaces
Mo Laudi’s performances move between clubs, festivals and cultural institutions. His appearances include the Paris Noir programme at the Centre Pompidou, the Philharmonie de Paris and Dunya Festival in Rotterdam. Each setting brings a different audience and a different way of listening.
Alongside the club work, his practice as an artist and composer brings an attention to space, memory and atmosphere. In a DJ set, those interests remain physical: how a room changes as a rhythm builds, or how one song makes space for the next.

Records that connect the dancefloor
The exchange continues in his productions. “Lerato Laka (My Love)” connects Mo Laudi with DJ Satelite and Max-Hoba. “Sowa Part II”, with Fatoumata Diawara, and “Por Cima”, with Flavia Coelho, bring distinct vocal voices into his musical world.
His remix of K.O.G featuring Pat Thomas, “Odo Sronko”, carries the Paris Afro House Club Mix name. These records offer a direct route into the sound behind the sets. Explore the music catalogue for releases, remixes and listening links.

Globalisto and the shared dancefloor
Globalisto gives a name to the wider philosophy: radical hospitality, rooted in Ubuntu and Botho. On the dancefloor, that means welcoming different histories, generations and ways of moving. Music becomes a place to meet.
